NEG announces support of “Seeing beyond the eyes” campaign

NEG are pleased to announce sponsorship of the upcoming "Seeing Beyond the Eyes" CET workshops, being run across the country by Dan Williams and the Visualise Training & Consultancy team. All Optical colleagues are invited to attend a free session which forms part of a UK-wide mission to get low vision higher up the agenda by bringing the optical and sight loss sectors together for the benefit of patients embarking on their new journey.

"‘Seeing Beyond the Eyes’ enables optical professionals to learn more about helping patients with sight loss, available support services and referral pathways and is really gaining momentum with over 900 professionals having attended our 17 workshops to date." said Dan Williams Visualise founder of Visualise, he continued, "Our findings show a staggering 96% of them will now refer to rehabilitation services, up from only 9% prior to the courses! Their increased awareness of services and products for people who are blind or partially sighted will greatly enhance the experience of patients and we are already hearing about new referrals."

The course is suitable for Ophthalmologists, Optoms, DOs, CLOs and students and is delivered by Jayshree Vasani, Peter Black and Dan. A Resources Pack for Professionals enables opticians to refer patients to support services that can develop their independence and empower them with the confidence to tackle their challenges head on. The two-hour awareness course was designed for opticians and optometrists, but there has great feedback from patients, rehabilitation workers, eye clinic liaison officers, ophthalmologists and ophthalmic nurses who attended…

“The best CET I have attended. Great presentation, relevant, and easy to immediately implement to make environmental changes in practice” (Optometrist registered since 2005)

“I didn’t know there was so much support and equipment available for patients with low vision, I am now going to call 25 patients tomorrow that I can help with information”

“This is the best CET session I’ve been to in this 3-year cycle. Interesting, relevant & full of great ideas for use in everyday practice, I will now purchase low vision aids to demonstrate to patients”

The more info link below lists all the forthcoming workshop dates and Dan and the teamwe will be delighted if you can join with us to play a part in improving the lives of people facing sight loss through the Seeing Beyond the Eyes journey.
