News & Events
This year we have joined forces with Independents Day to offer a combined event to all UK independent Opticians. It is being held at the Hilton Metropole Hotel Birmingham on the 6th & 7th November and promises to be one of the most important events of the optical calendar. By joining together we are able to offer delegates a wider topic base, an improved exhibition and a chance to meet with a greater number of like minded independent opticians from across the UK. In the past the two events have been very different, so we didn't want either to lose their identity, so Sunday the 6th will follow the NEG Building for Success formula, with CET and clinical elements, while the Monday will be in line with Independents Day and will be looking at being a retail champion. The exhibition, that both events are renowned for, will run for the two days, with many of the UK's leading optical suppliers showing their very latest developments and sharing with delegates what support they can offer independent practices. The Sunday programme is free for everyone to attend, with the NEG members paying just £99 to attend the Independents Day on the Monday. For those attending both days there are hotel packages available and the INight gala dinner, which always a great evening of fun and entertainment.
The Sunday programme Titled " A digital response to a digital age", kicks off with registration at 9:30am and offers a mix of CET and business presentations, including Myopia, digital lifestyle, progressive lenses, fraud and insurance. So something for everyone. To view the programme for the Sunday please click the download file link below. We all know that the increased use of electronics in our life has made a difference, but what is the difference, how are we engaging with it and introducing theses elements into our practices and more importantly what difference does that make to our patients.
The Independents Day will be focusing on the importance of the retail side of independent practice. With most practices still generating around up to 90% of their revenue through product sales regardless of all the clinical services provided, we have decided to focus on the rapidly changing face of retail.
This years talks will be to share some of the 'tricks-of-the-trade' used by non-optical retailers in order to enhance the customer experience, generate loyalty and increase spend. We will also look at operational streamlining that can reduce costs and improve profitability without any increase in turnover.
As well as speakers from outside the industry and following positive delegate feedback, we plan to continue having leading UK independent practice owners sharing their individual experience and tips for retail success.
